Website Usability Guidelines
The internet offers new businesses a huge opportunity to quickly take market-share and enter almost any industry including children’s fashion, but web surfers are a sensitive group. Keep them interested by following these four website usability guidelines and watch your children’s fashion business soar.
1. Standardize Most visitors typically start scanning a webpage at the top left corner and move diagonally down to the bottom right. Knowing this, it’s smart to place your logo and navigation at the top of each page. Be consistent from page to page.
2. Easy Equals Better Arrange your navigation in descending order based on popularity and be clear and concise with labels. Visitors should be able to find all pertinent information within a few clicks, without having to hunt.
3. Above the Fold Ideally visitors should never have to scroll down to see important information. Do the best you can to ensure the most important elements on the page are above the fold, but if they can’t be do what you can to highlight the key items to make them stand out and easy to find.
4. Call To Action You’ve now been able to attract a buyer, so the next step is closing the sale. Include content, buttons and/or banners to help motivate the potential customer to “buy now”. We recommend promoting specials like specific Sale periods, FREE Freight programs, Deal of the Day or Limited Time products.
There is a lot competition in the children’s fashion industry, so make sure to follow these simple guidelines and your business will be on the road to success.
